prayers for your husband

After posting prayers for your children i thought it would be wise to post prayers for our husbands! I will continue this until all 31 days are listed. For now here are the first 7. (I got this from the revive our hearts website)

Day 1

Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord.

Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines—Bible reading and study,

prayer, meditation, scripture memorization, etc. (2 Peter 3:18; Prov. 4:23)

Day 2

Pray that your husband’s relationship with God and His Word will bear fruit in his life. Pray that

he will be a man of wisdom and understanding, fearing the Lord. (Prov. 3:7, 9:10; Ps. 112:1)

Day 3

Pray that your husband will be humble and quick to agree with God about his sin. Pray that his

heart will be tender toward the voice of the Lord. (Ps. 51:2-4; Micah 6:8)

Day 4

Pray that your husband will grow in leadership skills in your relationship—protecting and

providing for you. Pray that he will lead you wisely and love you sacrificially, so that God will

be glorified in your marriage.  (Eph. 5:25-29; Col. 3:19)

Day 5

Pray that your husband will be faithful to his wedding vows. Pray that he will have a desire to

cultivate your relationship as a sign of his loyalty and commitment to you, and as a picture of

Christ’s love for the Church. (Prov. 20:6; Gen. 2:24)

Day 6

Pray that your husband will love righteousness and hate wickedness, especially the evils of the

culture. Pray that he will recognize and avoid wickedness in his own life, and if necessary, take a

clear, strong stand against evil.  (Prov. 27:12; John 17:15; 1 Cor. 10:12-13)

Day 7

Pray that your husband will work hard to provide for his family, to the best of hie ability. Pray that the character qualities necessary will continue to grow-persistence, decisiveness, strength, an analytical mind, organizational skills. positive relationships with people, determination etc (Rom 12:11, 1 Cor 15:58)

Cool way to Memorize

If you are like me (and most others, from what i've heard) Scripture memory is truly a challenge.  I know that i am to think about it while i sit, walk, talk and meditate...so my nifty hubby has found and created a cool way to make scripture memory cards.

These are super cool. Ben got his on Monday and you put it on your key chain. You can get them in ESV or NAS so far.. He just put in an order for 10 in ESV.  They come in black, white, pink, and orange...Just thought you guys might be interested. You can order them off his site. (click)

Shepherding a Child's Heart

We are reading a book right now entitled "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp. Its is tremendous> Here are a few exerpts from the latest chapter:
...As a parent you have authority b/c God calls you to be an authority in your child's life.
You are under God's authority as your child is under yours.
You act at HIS command.
Your duty is not to shape the lives of your children as it pleases you, but as it pleases HIM..

*** i.e. when your child obeys they must know that the reason that they are to obey is not to please YOU, but GOD, because God is His Word commands them to, not just you.
Simmilarly, when they disobey, the greater emphasis must be placed on their disobedience to God, not you.
~Otherwise when our children disobey and we are angry that they did not do what WE wanted , we in essence, are acting just like them, jumping up and down with a pout b/c we didn't get OUR way!!!~
The shepherding role of parenting is to encourage the child to desire to please God, to obey God.
Remember that your children learn of obedience as it is modeled in you. They must see you obeying God-even when it may not make sense to you or sound fun..

Hi guys.
I'm having to confess that this season i was actually watching the Bachelor. we only have a few channels and this one had a better quality than most options (though Ben and i could have just talked or read instead of getting caught up in this)
We are big listeners to the pastor at Mars Hill in Seattle, and as you may know that is where the Bachelor took place. Many members even knew Jason.. So there is this great blog entry on their site that i thought i would share.

Psalm 139

Here is a precious video that God used to speak to my hear this morning about our new baby. Psalm 139 is a very familiar passage, but these precious images blessed me to my soul as I thought of what is inside!

Cousin's Birthday, more pictures

I just had to snap this picture, lately when Brennan goes to sleep he has to have a shirt AND his blanket.  Ben or I one give him the shirt we wore for the day so that it has our scent. This one he has kept for a week now, and maybe there is an attachment!  Last night he slept from 7:30 to 4:30 and went back to sleep till 7:30 am.  WOO HOO!!!
Here is little Chase, Brennan's cousin that is 7 weeks older than him. His birthday party was last weekend and Brennan has a ton of fun..

Brennan was playing with this blue ball and a red one that didn't get in the picture. He was slightly offended when another child came up and took the red ball!

Here Brennan is getting pushed along by Gracie..what an easy ride!

Brenna was really wanting a cupcake!
But Grandaddy was good and only gave him Cheerios!
